How To Close a Work Order

Steps to close a Work Order once the repair is complete

Once a vendor has completed the repair, you can close the Work Order in WarrantyOS. Closing a Work Order marks it as resolved and keeps your records up to date.

Steps

  1. Open the Work Order

Navigate to the relevant Service Request and open the Work Order.

  2. Confirm the work is complete

Before closing, verify that the repair has been completed and that any relevant notes or documentation have been added.

  3. Update the Work Order status

Use the status dropdown to change the status to Work Complete or Closed, depending on your team's workflow.

The Work Order is now closed. You can then update the related Issue and Service Request statuses accordingly.

Key Notes

  • Work Complete vs. Closed β€” Some builders use both statuses with different meanings: Work Complete signals that the vendor has finished the repair but verification is still pending, while Closed is the final status after the builder has confirmed the work. Other builders skip Work Complete and go straight to Closed. Your available statuses depend on your builder's configuration.

  • Closing a Work Order does not automatically close the parent Issue or Service Request β€” those must be updated separately.

  • You can add a Purchase Order to a Work Order even after it has been closed β€” POs and Work Orders are independent, so you never need to reopen a Work Order to attach a late invoice.

  • If additional work is needed after closing, you can create a new Work Order for the same Issue.

  • Closed Work Orders remain visible in the record for reference.
