Construction Milestones Overview

Construction Milestones are a templated series of key stages in the building process

Updated over 2 months ago

Each milestone represents a major step in construction, such as Foundation, Framing, or Drywall.

When a milestone is completed in Operator, the buyer’s view is automatically updated in their app and the Buyer Portal. This allows buyers to track progress and see a clear record of their home’s construction timeline.

Complete a Construction Milestone

Updating milestones keeps construction progress current for both internal teams and buyers.

  1. Navigate to the property
Open the property from the Homes tab.

  2. Open Construction
From the property navigation, select Construction.
You can also access this view by clicking the home’s current construction stage from the Homes index.

  3. Select the milestone
Locate the milestone you want to complete (for example, Foundation).

  4. Mark as complete
Click the button or checkbox to mark the milestone as complete.

  5. Notify buyers (optional)

    • Notify Buyers is selected by default

    • When enabled, buyers receive an automated email and push notification

    • Uncheck this option to update the milestone without sending a notification

  6. Confirm
    Click Mark as Complete.

After completion:

  • The milestone is marked complete

  • The next milestone is automatically set to In Progress

  • The buyer’s app and portal reflects the updated status

Reset a Milestone

If a milestone is completed by mistake, it can be reverted.

  • Click Reset on the completed milestone

  • The milestone returns to In Progress

  • Any associated buyer notifications are removed from their view

Add Notes or Completion Dates

You can add notes or a completion date when completing a construction milestone to provide additional context.

  1. Select the milestone
Open the milestone before marking it complete.

  2. Set a completion date

    • Choose the date the milestone was finished

    • If no date is selected, the current date is used by default

  3. Add a note (optional)
Enter a short note with additional details about the milestone.

    Example:
Foundation is complete. Framing will begin next.

  4. Complete the milestone
    Click Mark as Complete.

The note and completion date:

  • Are saved with the milestone

  • Appear in the buyer’s app and Buyer Portal

  • Create a clear historical record of construction progress
